Computers are an invention like no other. Some of the most powerful disregard the concept of “computer” and focus on a new digital aesthetic that underlines the essence of the machine. Channa Horwitz’s Sonakinatography series (1968-2012) is an exemplar, perhaps because she had no formal training in mathematics or computer science, but her work embodies both.
