Turning the Puzzle Sideways: Sleep, Diet and the Brain-Gut Connection
What we eat alters the microbiota in our guts, which research is showing can influence our moods, metabolism, sleep and more. Amazingly, when the gut microbes from obese mice are transplanted into thin mice, with no change in diet, thin mice become fat! I’m hopeful we’ll someday have accessible diagnostics, programs and scientifically-backed supplements to help people leverage their guts to impact mood and health, and that diet consideration will become part of the standard of medical care.
