True Surprise

This was the question I asked Mrs. Bastard when she was pregnant with our first child and wanted to find out the baby’s gender (and I didn’t). Without question the most surprising aspect of that entire experience was that the nurse, whose job is literally taking care of newborn children, could not tell the difference between a girl and a boy. After going through her arm, however, the bullet had entered her right chest around the level of the 6th rib.
