The move to step away from foreign communication apps, if it comes to fruition, won’t be the first time a nation has attempted to cautiously restrict usage of popular messaging apps run by foreign players in government offices. China, which has restricted many foreign companies from operating in the nation, also maintains customized versions of popular operating systems for use in government offices.
