That Google outage meant some Nest users couldn’t unlock doors or use the AC

Last night, Google reported several issues with its Cloud Platform , which made several Google sites slow or inoperable. However, the Google Cloud outage also affected third-party apps and services that use Google Cloud space for hosting. But an especially annoying side effect of Google Cloud’s downtime was that Nest-branded smart home products for some users just failed to work.

  1. This is hilarious. My across the street neighbor knocked on my low tech door and asked did I know how to pick a lock. Seems he was unable to get into his house; his electronics had failed. He was joking about the lock picking, sort of, but he was stuck. I told him to break a window. He refused to consider that so I told him to go buy some beer. No idea what happened after that I saw his Prius at the Home Depot just up the road later that day.
