WhatsApp founder warns world to ‘delete Facebook’ immediately
Mr Acton, now the head of non-profit WhatsApp rival Signal, blasted Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg for trading privacy for revenue by allowing ads on his platform. Jan Koum, WhatsApp’s co-founder, also left Facebook a year later in 2018 because he reportedly didn’t agree with their approach to user data and privacy. In an interview with Forbes, Mr Acton described how Facebook had set goals for WhatsApp to hit a revenue run rate of $10 billion within five years by pushing ads.
