Steinway proceeded to make over 3,000 “Victory Vertical” pianos designed specifically for troops in battle between 1941 and 1953. The wagon contained a light system and a Steinway piano. The pianos provided an excellent camaraderie and created a strong appreciation on the battlefield for not only the music, but the Steinway name.

In my limited experience, God mode also integrates better with the rest of Emacs than Evil mode. That’s why I switched from Evil mode to God mode: I have found the threshold to entry to other parts of Emacs lower when you stay reasonably true to vanilla Emacs. If you want nothing but a good text editor, get Emacs and run Evil mode in it.

Let’s try it out; here’s a program that repeatedly allocates \(1\) GB memory chunks until it fails. If we the above program, we see that it’s ing 1 GB chunks of private, anonymous memory for file descriptor \(-1\). In my case, I saw the test program chew through about \(3\) GB of memory after allocating \(130315\) GB.

In a Sunday statement, Boeing explained that its engineers found that the AOA disagree alert was incorrectly set as linked to the AOA indicator, an optional feature purchased by only about one-fifth of 737 MAX buyers. Boeing did “discuss the status of the AOA disagree alert with the FAA” after the Lion Air crash, the manufacturer said, and the November 2018 airworthiness directive clarified that the alert was not available to operators without the premium AOA indicator option. As part of the updates to the 737 MAX, Boeing said that before its best-selling plane returns to service, the AOA disagree alert will be corrected to be a standalone feature available to all operators and separate from the optional AOA indicator.

Moreover, why do some platform businesses—such as Alibaba, Facebook, and Airbnb—flourish, while Uber, Didi, and Meituan, among others, hemorrhage cash? Economists have long understood that digital platforms like Facebook enjoy same-side (“direct”) network effects: The more Facebook friends you have in your network, the more likely you are to attract additional friends through your friends’ connections. When network effects are strong, the value provided by a platform continues to rise sharply with the number of participants.
