Again, having in mind that less is more, a progressive difficulty mode (where the player does not choose the difficulty level) was strived for, instead of a bucket based approach (e.g. easy, normal, hard). Choosing a difficulty level when starting a simple game like this one, forces the player to commit to a given difficulty level at start, and accepting that decision.

By the way, since this post also handles a 2D problem and in the future 3D problems will be approached, solving a multi-dimensional Fourier transform is easy once you have the 1D transform. FFTW already has 2D and 3D transforms implemented, but for example for this project all I would have to do is to Fourier transform each row of the raw matrix then each column after that (or first the columns, then the rows), if only the 1D Fourier transform would be available.

Dan Lynch, President of the Interop Internet networking show, told John Romkey at the 1989 show that he would give him star billing the following year if he connected a toaster to the Internet. Working together with his friend Simon Hackett, John Romkey rose to the occasion and connected a Sunbeam Deluxe Automatic Radiant Control Toaster to the Internet, becoming the hit of the 1990 Interop. At the 1991 Interop a small robotic crane was added to the system, also controlled from the Internet, which picked up a slice of bread and dropped it into the toaster, automating the system from end-to-end.
