When planning the setup of our infrastructure, we kept two things in mind: First, we wanted to have open source software running wherever possible, and second, we wanted to use strong encryption for both communication and data storage. Our main reasons for choosing Arch Linux were its active community, good documentation, highly up-to-date repositories with current versions of important software, good support for disk encryption, and finally, the fact that Arch Linux has a rolling update scheme instead of a release-based one. Other reasons for using Docker can be wanting to try something out without messing up your host system or maybe software is simply not available for your Linux distribution.

But this year, the state’s Air Resources Board could approve its proposed Tropical Forest Standard — a blueprint for how carbon offsets could be awarded for intercontinental programs. The hype over Hadoop has died away and many of the investments now seem to have been terrible investments:

MapR Technologies Inc., one of the troika of unicorn startups that emerged from the early days of the big-data movement, may cut up to 122 jobs and shut down its Santa Clara, California headquarters if it can’t secure additional funding. Cloudera and MapR have both attempted to distance themselves from the Hadoop market in recent years as the once-expected riches failed to materialize. The same will eventually be said of Docker.

The main feature of it was to power frontend developers with a self-designed-formatted URL as a Query Language. When the API server received an HTTP Get request, it converted the URL into specific query languages for backend databases such as ElasticSearch, Redis and influxDB. Once the server collected all the returned data from related databases after dispatching the query languages, it packed them up in a unified format and sent it to the front.

No one knows how many hikikomori exist (the term refers both to the condition and the people with it), but surveys suggest that 1.79 per cent of Japanese people aged 15-39 meet the criteria. Earlier this year, researchers found a deposit of rare-earth minerals off the coast of Japan that could supply the world for centuries, according to a study. Japan started seeking its own rare-earth mineral deposits after China withheld shipments of the substances amid a dispute over islands that both countries claim as their own, Reuters reported in 2014. The only thing holding Japan back from using its newly found deposit to dominate the global market for rare-earth minerals is the challenge involved in extracting them.
