This simple hydride heat engine prototype starts generating electricity the moment the hydride heat exchangers are dipped into hot and cold water. See it happen in this short video clip:

The hydride heat engine is comprised of solar hot water panels, a fan cooler or radiator, a hydride-based hydrogen compressor and an expander-generator set. After the hydrogen has been fully absorbed and the heat exchanger cooled, hot water from the flat plate solar collectors is circulated through the heat exchangers.

Scientists first reported detections of methane on Mars a decade and a half ago using measurements from Mars Express, an orbiting spacecraft built by the European Space Agency and is still in operation, as well as from telescopes on Earth. But the Trace Gas Orbiter, a newer European spacecraft launched in 2016 with more sensitive instruments, did not detect any methane at all in its first batch of scientific observations last year. Marco Giuranna, a scientist at the National Institute for Astrophysics in Italy, who leads the Mars Express orbiter’s methane measurements, said scientists on the Curiosity, Mars Express and Trace Gas Orbiter missions had been discussing the latest findings.

Hence, a target of Seki and his contemporary Japanese mathematicians was the development of general multi-variable algebraic equations and elimination theory. In his book of 1674, however, Seki only gave the single variable equations after the elimination, but no account of the process at all, nor his new system of algebraic symbols. In 1678, Tanaka Yoshizane (田中 由真), who was from Hashimoto’s school and was active in Kyoto, authored Sampo-meikai (算法明記), and gave new solutions to Sawaguchi’s 15 problems, using his version of multi-variable algebra, similar to Seki’s.
