MEP errors mean European copyright law may not have passed

Enough MEPs now say they accidentally voted the wrong way on a key amendment of a new European copyright directive that the European parliament would have passed if none of them had erred, potentially enabling the most controversial aspects of the law to be removed. If it had passed, that vote would have allowed another vote on articles 11 and 13 on their own, potentially raising the prospect of MEPs voting to remove the controversial clauses from the final version. Since no vote was held on the specific amendments, there is no way to know whether MEPs would have removed the controversial provisions if they had had the chance to.
