How to Track Your Kids (and Other People’s Kids) with the TicTocTrack Watch

A couple of years back, the Norwegian Consumer Council discovered a whole raft of security flaws in a number of them which covered products from Gator, GPS for barn and Xplora:
These flaws included the ability for “a stranger [to] take control of the watch and track, eavesdrop on and communicate with the child” and “make it look like the child is somewhere it is not”. The Gator3 watch turned out to have even more serious security flaws, storing parents and kids’ voice messages on an openly available webserver.Around a similar time, Germany outright banned this class of watch. Uniting Agewell provides services to the elderly and when considering the nature of the Gator watch, it made me think back to a comment on the Chinese manufacturer’s website: “the world’s most reputable GPS watch for kids and elders”.
