Ask HN: Remote companies prefer not to hire remote developers from India?

I have been working as a full time developer in India for about 6 years now, and am trying to get a remote job. Is there something I can do to make my job applications appealing. However is it so bad that people don’t want to hire out of India at all or may be I am just missing something?
