Backgammon Ends (2013)

Step 2: In this modified game, from any legal position Player A may choose the dice so that not both players are on the bar. Step 3: From any position in which not both players are on the bar, Player A may end the game by calling 2-4 enough times in a row. That can’t happen from a position in which one player is not on the bar by a sequence of 2-4 rolls, since the only way for both players to be on the bar is if one hits from the bar, and if you hit me from the bar with a 2-4 it must be that my 2 or 4 point isn’t made.
