Huawei, the probably partially state-owned Chinese company in the news for allegedly compromised network and carrier equipment, saw smartphone shipments jump spectacularly: 50.3 percent on 59.1 million units. Apple dropped 30.2% in shipment volume in Q1 to 36.4 million units.
