It seems every major Russian media outlet had to chime in about the “Chernobyl” TV series by HBO. In his show, the Rossia 24 anchor pointed out a major article published by KP, arguing that the HBO series was wrong to suggest that the Soviet authorities were afraid to admit their mistakes and that this reluctance led to terrible consequences. Russia’s NTV channel has already announced that it is shooting its own “Chernobyl” series based on the premise that the CIA sent an agent to the Chernobyl zone to carry out acts of sabotage.

China’s Huawei Technologies needs to raise its “shoddy” security standards which fall below rivals, a senior British cyber security official said on Thursday, as the company came under increasing pressure internationally. The US has led allegations that Huawei’s equipment can be used by Beijing for espionage operations, with Washington urging allies to bar the company from 5G networks. Britain’s National Security Council decided in April to block Huawei from all core parts of its future 5G network but to give it restricted access to non-core parts.

There has been speculation that squirrels prefer fiber to other cables due to some oil or compound used in the fiber manufacturing process that attracts them. China Telecom then announced these routes onto the global Internet redirecting large amounts of Internet traffic destined for some of the largest European mobile networks through China Telecom’s network. These ‘features’ are caused by changes in how China Telecom exported these routes to Tier-1 telecoms during the leak. Beginning at 10:10 UTC, 150 Bouygues Telecom (AS5410) prefixes were in this leak — 127 of which were more-specifics of existing routes.

They are quite literally worth what another investor is prepared to pay for them, and given that we’re at the tail end of what has been one helluva boom in venture capital that value can change remarkably swiftly. Its impact, however, is weak, with European democracy facing two hostile forces: corporations lobbying the European Commission and individual governments at levels European Parliament cannot reach; and xenophobic populists trying to pull power away from the EU and back to the nation states. Democracy operates in two different theatres: the formal roles played by elections and parliaments; and the informal actions of lobbying and other forms of political pressure that take place across civil society.
