Teens Define Themselves in Terms of Positive Traits; Adults More by Social Roles

Teens Define Themselves in Terms of Positive Traits; Adults More by Social Roles

Indeed, this is the first time that teenagers’ own self-generated descriptions of themselves (what the researchers call their “self-images”) have been gathered in a systematic way. A few gender differences were apparent: girls tended to provide more self-images than boys; girls more often described themselves as a daughter (relative to how often boys described themselves as a son), as being a sibling, a friend, mentioning their appearance, as tired, caring, love, shy, or quiet; whereas boys more often described themselves as a sports player and sporty. The researchers also compared the teenagers’ self-images with those obtained in an earlier study from a sample of predominantly young adults (aged 18 to 30).

Carrier Group in Recent UFO Encounters Had New Air Defense Tech

Carrier Group in Recent UFO Encounters Had New Air Defense Tech

“At its very basic level, it [CEC] uses the Strike Group’s diverse and powerful surveillance sensors, including the SPY-1 radars on Aegis Combat System-equipped cruisers and destroyers, as well as the E-2 Hawkeye’s radar picture from on high, and fuses that information into a common ‘picture’ via data-links and advanced computer processing. The data-link connectivity and the quality of the enhanced telemetry means that weapons platforms, such as ships and aircraft, could also fire on targets without needing to use their own sensor data. The key takeaway here is that if ever there was an opportune time to capture the very best real-world sensor data on a high-performance target in near lab-like controlled settings offered by the restricted airspace off the Baja Coast, this was it.

A long-lost vessel from the 1800s was found by accident as NOAA tested equipment

The wreck of what appears to be a mid-1800s, 124-foot-long (37.8 meters) wooden sailing vessel was first picked up May 16 by sonar on the ROV, named Deep Discoverer. The hull is pretty much intact up to the water line, thanks to the copper sheathing protecting the timber, high-resolution footage taken by the ROV shows. “Marine life is prevalent on the wreck, except on the copper sheathing which still retains its antifouling ability to keep the hull free of marine organism,” NOAA said.

Moscow Publishes Photocopies of Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact, Secret Protocols

Moscow Publishes Photocopies of Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact, Secret Protocols

Staunton, June 1 – For the first time, a Moscow portal, Istoricheskaya pamyat, has published photocopies of the Russian originals of the 1939 Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact and its secret protocols, the agreements which made Hitler and Stalin allies, opened the way to World War II in Europe, and divided the continent into German and Soviet spheres of influence. Throughout the Soviet period, Moscow officials denied the existence of such texts in the archives and used the lack of such texts to challenge the German originals which had been available to scholars since the late 1940s. This should make it impossible for Russian authors to deny the existence of the documents but not, of course, to deny the reading of them that Western historians and people in the countries most profoundly affected by the pact have given to that Nazi-Soviet agreement and especially to its secret protocols.

Does Tim Cook have a Plan B in China?

Does Tim Cook have a Plan B in China?

L Tim Cook became Apple’s boss, when his job was to wring costs out of the company’s supply chain, he learned of a problem with a supplier in China. While Jobs, the irascible creative genius behind Apple’s bestselling products, stole the show, Mr Cook, who is both courtly and deeply private, plugged away behind the scenes to cement a relationship crucial to Apple’s soaring success: that with China. Although Apple has tentatively started production of some iPhones in India for local customers, it appears if anything to have increased its China exposure, even as Mr Trump’s trade bluster has intensified.

Using Hugo, Gitlab Pages, and Cloudflare to Create and Run a Free Static Website

When I decided to start this blog for the reasons outlined in my first post, I was already familiar with GitLab Pages, and the MkDocs static site generator. Once everything is in order, we can simply follow GitLab’s instructions for pushing our existing project folder:

Finally, we get to the exciting part: Having our site built and published on every new commit to the repository. All your static sites hosted with GitLab Pages and served via Cloudflare will be accessible over HTTPS without any additional configuration.

Darren Shepherd, Chief Architect at Rancher Labs is known for building simple solutions and accessible user-experiences for distributed systems. Now join any number of your worker nodes to the server with the following:

If you installed k3s manually using a binary, then you can join your node to the server in this way:

We can see our nodes and that they are using containerd rather than full Docker. Wait for the figlet microservice to come up:

You can use an Open Source tool like inlets.dev to create a tunnel to the public Internet for your Raspberry Pi k3s cluster.

The XY Problem

The XY Problem

There’s no guarantee that every filename will have a three-letter extension,

so blindly grabbing three characters does not solve the problem. Obama: Look in the sourcecode for nmap, find how it figures out the Linux part, then rewrite your TCP/IP stack to not operate in a way nmap can detect. Obama: Well, nmap’s fingerprint is based on the way the TCP/IP stack works, there’s no real way except to rewrite the appropriate parts of said stack.

Sunfish: A simple, but strong chess engine, written in Python

Sunfish is a simple, but strong chess engine, written in Python, mostly for teaching purposes. Because Sunfish is small and strives to be simple, the code provides a great platform for experimenting. It is also possible to run Sunfish with a graphical interface, such as PyChess, Arena or your chess interface of choice.
