This website—and, until recently, CrossFit’s Facebook and Instagram accounts—has long catalogued CrossFit’s tireless defense of its community against overreaching governments, malicious competitors, and corrupt academic organizations. Facebook thus serves as a de facto authority over the public square, arbitrating a worldwide exchange of information as well as overseeing the security of the individuals and communities who entrust their ideas, work, and private data to this platform. To this end, all activity on CrossFit, Inc.’s Facebook and Instagram accounts was suspended as of May 22, 2019, as CrossFit investigates the circumstances pertaining to Facebook’s deletion of the Banting7DayMealPlan and other well-known public complaints about the social-media company that may adversely impact the security and privacy of our global CrossFit community.

Among these is the high performance, royalty free AV1 video decoder dav1d, now enabled by default on all desktop platforms (Windows, OSX and Linux) for both 32-bit and 64-bit systems. Now that desktop Firefox contains dav1d, we expect even more websites will take advantage of this next-generation, royalty-free video codec AV1. State-of-the-art decoders like dav1d are great for video playback, but best-in-class, free and open source software encoders are equally important to a healthy AV1 community.

We significantly reduce the cost of factoring integers and computing discrete logarithms over finite fields on a quantum computer by combining techniques from Griffiths-Niu 1996, Zalka 2006, Fowler 2012, Ekerå-Håstad 2017, Ekerå 2017, Ekerå 2018, Gidney-Fowler 2019, Gidney 2019. When factoring 2048 bit RSA integers, our construction’s spacetime volume is a hundredfold less than comparable estimates from earlier works (Fowler et al. 2012, Gheorghiu et al. 2019). In the abstract circuit model (which ignores overheads from distillation, routing, and error correction) our construction uses $3 n + 0.002 n \lg n$ logical qubits, $0.3 n^3 + 0.0005 n^3 \lg n$ Toffolis, and $500 n^2 + n^2 \lg n$ measurement depth to factor $n$-bit RSA integers.

In a traditional Forth, the interpret process is something

like:

In RETRO, the interpret process is basically:

All of the actual logic for how to deal with tokens is moved

to the individual prefix handlers, and the logic for handling

words is moved to word class handlers. The latest Glossary can be browsed at http://forthworks.com:9999

or upcoming chapters provide helpful information on using RETRO

with different types of data and hints on how to solve problems

in a way consistent with the RETRO system. To find a list of prefix characters, do:

Most words in RETRO have a stack comment.

Washington had campaigned vigorously at the UN and directly in talks with national capitals around the world in defence of the UK’s continued control of the archipelago, where there is a US military base at Diego Garcia. The islands, known by the Foreign Office as the British Indian Ocean Territory (BIOT), include Diego Garcia, used by US bombers on long-range missions and, in the past, for rendition flights carrying terrorism suspects. The UK and US lobbied intensely at the UN to try to avoid support for Britain dropping to single figures among the UN’s 193 member states.

H.264, like other lossy image algorithms, discards detail information. So here is what our image looks like in the frequency domain:

The fine grill on that MacBook pro has a high information content in the higher frequency components of that image. Because now, you can take that frequency domain image and then mask out the edges – discard information which will contain the information with high frequency components.

Because it lies on the perpendicular bisector of segment $latex \overline{AB} $, point Q is equidistant to A and B. Since every point on the perpendicular bisector of segment $latex \overline{AB} $ is equidistant to A and B, we have another powerful way to think about the perpendicular bisector: as a dividing line. Similarly, everything on Adrienne’s side of $latex \overline{AB} $’s perpendicular bisector is closer to Adrienne than to Brandon.

Back in the era of terms like “well-adjusted,” the idea seemed to be that there was something wrong with you if you thought things you didn’t dare say out loud. One way to find these ideas is simply to look at things people do say, and get in trouble for. “Blasphemy”, “sacrilege”, and “heresy” were such labels for a good part of western history, as in more recent times “indecent”, “improper”, and “unamerican” have been.

Clearly, the report is bad news if it signals increased fraud, bribery, insider trading, environmental disasters, inflated resumes, and sexual indiscretions by CEOs around the world. The question now is whether this sea of change in how sexual harassment and other sexual misconduct by CEOs is treated will lead to a similar lack of toleration for other forms of CEO wrongdoing—fudging the numbers, insider trading, bribery and the like. If news stories about the 2029 version of the PwC report read: “In 2028 No CEOs Were Dismissed for Moral Reasons,” it will more likely be because standards have slipped again than that all our CEOs have turned into choir boys (and I use this gendered term to highlight the unfortunate fact that the PwC report also indicated that the percentage of incoming CEOs who are women declined in 2018).
