Apple removes game after Chinese company cloned, trademarked, requested takedown

This company, Shenzhen Lingyou Technology Co., Ltd., received a trademark for “点击英雄” in 2015 in China even though it was already being used in our game BEFORE they trademarked it. In 2014 on an asian web portal (see the date on the page – 日期:2014-11-23), my game was already using “点击英雄”:

Here is the 3rd party’s trademark application: – which has a date of application of February 13, 2015. We don’t have the resources to fight a legal trademark battle in China so I guess that’s the end of our game there.

Snapchat Employees Abused Data Access to Spy on Users

Several departments inside social media giant Snap have dedicated tools for accessing user data, and multiple employees have abused their privileged access to spy on Snapchat users, Motherboard has learned. Those sources, as well as an additional two former employees, a current employee, and a cache of internal company emails obtained by Motherboard, described internal tools that allowed Snap employees at the time to access user data, including in some cases location information, their own saved Snaps and personal information such as phone numbers and email addresses. Although Snap said it has several tools that the company uses to help with customer reports, comply with laws, and to enforce the network’s terms and policies, employees have used data access processes for illegitimate reasons to spy on users, according to two former employees.

Descending Night: The cruel fate of Audrey Munson (2015)

When Audrey Munson was born—on June 8, 1891, to Katherine and Edgar Munson, in Rochester, New York—her life was expected to take the typical course of the life of a woman born in a rural area at that time. Perhaps it was a story she believed in, a fated tale that explained how a girl from nowhere had become the it-girl of the 1910s, “the Queen of the Artists’ Studios,” “Miss Manhattan,” “the most perfectly formed woman in the world,” a teenage model who found immortal success as the body that served as inspiration for the best artists and sculptors of the beaux arts era, who created work that catches one’s eye in New York City to this day. Eventually the city’s heights were crowned by Audrey’s face and body, cast in gilded copper, but by the time her likeness came to stand guard over all five boroughs, Audrey had left New York City and was living out the final sixty years of her life behind the walls of a mental institution, alone and forgotten.

Ask HN: What tools/methods do you use to focus your time well?

This kind of system gives me structure and focus and I allocate time with events based on the goals I have set. The link also goes over some nice tools I use to automate distraction as I have most ‘news feed’ like websites blocked (front pages of And only have few times I can actually visit those sites with goals of intentionally viewing them and not out of a habit. I am curious what systems & methods you guys found that work well for you to achieve this goal of being more mindful of your time and the things you truly want to be doing in life?

A Rocket Built by Students Reaches Space

In 2013, the USC rocket team attempted its first space shot with the Traveler I, which exploded just seconds after launch. Following the failure of the first two Traveler rockets, the USC team began to develop the Fathom rocket and Graveler motor as testbeds for flight systems that would be used on subsequent space shots. USC may have been the first collegiate team to make it to space, but the race is far from over.

Moody’s downgraded Equifax from “stable” to “negative” due to cybersecurity

Moody’s downgraded Equifax from “stable” to “negative” due to cybersecurity

The cash Equifax will have to spend in relation to the cyberattack and bolstering its security are going to ding the company’s profits, according to Moodys, which explained in its report that, after next year, Equifax’s “infrastructure investments are likely to remain higher than they had been before the 2017 breach.” “The heightened emphasis on cybersecurity for all data oriented companies, which is especially acute for Equifax, leads us to expect that higher cybersecurity costs will continue to hurt the company’s profit and free cash flow for the foreseeable future,” Moody’s report said. Few people make an informed decision to hand all that data over to companies like Equifax which explains the surprise of many Americans when they found out their data was likely involved in that 2017 breach.

The APA Meeting: A Photo-Essay

The second thing you notice at the American Psychiatric Association meeting is that the staircase is shaming you for not knowing enough about Vraylar®. I did take one of their flyers, but it turned out to just be about how woke they were:

The sixth thing you notice at the American Psychiatric Association meeting is that Vraylar® has built an entire miniature city. The seventh thing you notice at the American Psychiatric Association meeting is that many of the new drugs are ridiculous.
