Myplanet partnered with CNIB to run a series of experiments with the objective of developing a two-way prototyped solution that would both enhance the experience of employees trying to create events in Drupal and improve a member’s experience when using mobile to access information related to CNIB events. For the prototype to be effective, we needed users to be able to publish events to the production site without moderation, which meant that we needed a voice assistant with an extremely high level of accuracy when it comes to natural language processing (NLP). Using Alexa for Business for the content creator experience and Google Actions for the consumer side, we were able to spin up an interaction that showed how both creating and accessing event content could be easier and more accessible for all through the power of voice interactions.

Utley worked the overnight shift at a Facebook content moderation site in Tampa, FL, operated by a professional services vendor named Cognizant. The stress of the job weighed on Utley, according to his former co-workers, who, like all Facebook contractors at the Tampa site, must sign a 14-page nondisclosure agreement. But for the first time, three former moderators for Facebook in North America agreed to break their nondisclosure agreements and discuss working conditions at the site on the record.

So, as the crawler indexed the admin pages, it would follow the links and, as a side effect, would change configuration settings for the wiki, including, but not limited to, the default language for the site. After determining the source IP of the crawler (one of the admins was experimenting with Nutch as a supplement to the wiki’s impoverished search capabilities and had authenticated the crawler using their admin credentials) and stopping the crawl we stepped back in wonder at how a major application vendor had missed such a core tenet of web application architecture…GET requests (along with HEAD, OPTIONS and TRACE methods) should have no side effects and must not change application state. If the wiki had used discrete forms for each option that POST’ed the changes for language and other settings, the crawler would not have triggered state changes.

Maxine Waters says Facebook has a troubled past

A US lawmaker has said Facebook should delay the launch of its Libra crypto-currency – hours after the social network formally announced the project. “Given the company’s troubled past, I am requesting that Facebook agree to a moratorium on any movement forward on developing a crypto-currency until Congress and regulators have the opportunity to examine these issues and take action,” said Democratic congresswoman Maxine Waters. It’s not yet clear how many of Facebook’s 2.38 billion users worldwide would make use of Libra – but given the size of the social network, it is possible that the crypto-currency could become a significant financial force.
