Updates to Amazon EKS Version Lifecycle

Updates to Amazon EKS Version Lifecycle

In this post, we want to give you a heads-up on upcoming changes with out Amazon EKS is managing the lifecycle for Kubernetes versions, walk you through the process in general and then have a look at a concrete example, Kubernetes version 1.10. OK, with that out of the way, let’s have a look at the options you have to move to the latest Kubernetes versions with Amazon EKS and then dive into the update and deprecation process in greater detail:

In a nutshell, the Kubernetes versioning and release regime is roughly following a four-releases-per-year pattern, with cadence varying between 70 and 130 days. In line with the Kubernetes community support for Kubernetes versions, Amazon EKS is committed to running at least three production-ready versions of Kubernetes at any given time, with a fourth version in deprecation.

Linux apps that run anywhere

Linux apps that run anywhere

The key idea of the AppImage format is one app = one file. Every AppImage contains an app and all the files the app needs to run. AppImage format is ideal for upstream packaging, which means that you get the software directly from the original author(s) without any intermediaries, exactly in the way the author(s) intended.

Lenovo stole a fan’s video to promote the foldable Motorola RAZR

Lenovo stole a fan’s video to promote the foldable Motorola RAZR

The clip Lenovo showed to the press yesterday appears to be cut together from a number of renders that was first seen in a video titled “Motorola RAZR 2019 – Introduction First Look!” Many of the images in Lenovo’s video are identical to those that appear in Khan’s, and it even looks like Khan’s Twitter handle watermark is still present in the footage shared by Lenovo. But Lenovo’s use of a fan-made render has to make one wonder if the folding RAZR is real or if the company is just enjoying some free attention from people nostalgic for the beloved phone.

Procrastination is not a time management problem. It is an emotion

Procrastination is not a time management problem. It is an emotion

It’s not intuitive at first but to overcome procrastination, we need to address emotions and thoughts about the outcome of completing certain tasks. Research on the aspects of mental health such as depression, anxiety, and finer aspects like poor confidence in abilities, worrying, negative thinking, etc. predict procrastination like behaviors. Researchers have reported that procrastinatory cognitions are not compatible with healthy emotional self-regulation and mediate the link between procrastination and the negative affect cluster: anxiety, stress & negative emotions.

A Revolution in Your Pocket

A Revolution in Your Pocket

Using these existing resources and just a few others, we have the opportunity to reshape how we have been taught the internet is supposed to work: from a set of walled-off services belonging to massive companies with far-away data centers to a harmonized set of free tools speaking a common language, working together to enable all of us to make the most of every day, all from our own pockets. If one overarching goal is to enable people with the power to collect and distribute their own data as they desire, having a device able to act as a server, either from home or even more ideally from mobile, will be an important capability. That means they can’t be hidden behind network address translation (NAT)–a technique that masks a bunch of devices, each with one of a number of “private” Internet Protocol (IP) addresses, behind one public IP.
